Fun Fact: I am a very good (lifetime) sailor and coached rec league and travel softball for 16 years.
I am a Penn State grad in Industrial Engineering, class of ‘78. Before I started with the agency, I worked as an engineer for 6 months. My education background was a perfect fit for commercial property & casualty insurance. Also, I completed my CPCU designation in 1983.
I have done everything at Loesel-Schaaf, including taking out the trash and washing toilets!! I have loved the relationships I have had with all the employees over the last 43 years. While challenging, we have tried to maintain that family atmosphere. When I joined the agency, we had 4 members of my family and one other non-family employee. We have come a long way to where we are today.
When I’m not working, I love sailing. I grew up on the water sailing and racing all sorts of sailboats, from 12 ft to 60 ft long. I was very successful and my crews and I won many races and regattas around the country. When my oldest daughter turned 8, I left the sailboat racing world and became a softball coach for my daughter’s rec league team. When my younger daughter turned 13, I coached her travel softball team, as well as, the rec league. We managed to win a major tournament and placed in several others. It was an extremely gratifying experience and a great bonding experience with both daughters. Over the last 10, or so years, I have got back into sailing, racing on a 95-year-old and a 66-year-old boat. Sailing a classic boat is a very unique experience.
I now have 4grand-children and thoroughly enjoy every minute I can get with them, even though they totally wear me out!
