Commercial Insurance Advisor

Loesel-Schaaf Insurance Agency is interested in career minded and talented individuals looking for an opportunity to earn a higher income with a career mindset.

We are now accepting resumes for Insurance Advisors for our agency in Erie, PA.

This position offers a competitive base salary + commissions + bonuses + paid time off + ESOP + voluntary benefits. Agents earn around $50-60,000 per year on average. However, top agents will earn $100,000+ and we train with the intention to get all of our agents to be top agents.

Employee Benefits Sales Representative

Loesel-Schaaf Insurance Agency, Inc. is looking for an experienced sales representative to join our team in our Erie, PA office. This person will actively develop business clients through their own resources as well as prospecting and cold calling to secure broker relationship for employee benefits such as group health, life, dental, disability, vision and supplemental/voluntary insurance coverage and specialized products.

The ideal candidate is results-driven, hungry for customer acquisition, and passionate about contributing to top-line revenue growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Sell various types of insurance policies to businesses on behalf of insurance companies – Strategically present functionality and key value propositions to prospective customers.
  • Develop and foster relationships – Seek out new clients and develop clientele by networking to find new customers and generate lists of prospective clients. Maintain close communications with prospects to close sales and promote customer retention.
  • Customize insurance programs to suit individual customers, often covering a variety of risks.
  • Explain features, advantages, and disadvantages of various policies to promote sale of insurance plans – Includes calculating insurance premiums and comparing plan features.

Commercial Lines Account Manager

We are growing and looking for a Commercial Lines Account Manager to join our team! This full-time position prefers a candidate with a current Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance license and with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in P&C insurance sales and service. Individuals without a current P&C license/experience will be required to study and obtain their license and we will train.

Responsibilities:

  • Service/Manage a designated book of business, including analyzing the needs of clients and answer questions regarding coverage, billing, etc., advise clients on how to successfully leverage the product/service based on their unique needs as well as obtain information and documentation from new and existing clients
  • Provide technical support to and collaborate with producers to assist clients and reach producer and agency’s strategic business goals
  • Maintain relationships with various carrier underwriters to obtain quotes, endorsements, etc.
  • Produce binders, certificates, policies, endorsements, ID cards and other related items
  • Prepare renewal and new business proposals
  • Assist clients in submitting first report of claims and follow up on claim status, keeping the client informed

Employee Benefits Client Services Representative

The Client Services Representative is responsible for managing and servicing an assigned book of business by analyzing customers’ individual needs, evaluating options, and offering tailored insurance solutions. This position is responsible for building and sustaining relationships with existing customers and promoting the agency. The primary line of business is group insurance/employee benefits.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

At all times, the Client Services Representative shall:

  • Market, service and promote the Agency’s products and services and work at a strategic level to develop and retain customers.
  • Service/Manage a designated group of customers, including analyzing the needs of the customers, evaluating and answering questions regarding coverage, and determining the most suitable product for the customer.
  • Actively manage accounts prior to renewal to identify concerns, external competition, exposure changes, and additional coverage needs. This requires regular contact and meetings at the client locations, no less than twice a year on small accounts, up to monthly, or more frequently on larger accounts.
  • Assist existing policyholders through the renewal process with strong communication and market knowledge. Educate customers on policy/product features, advantages, and disadvantages. Remarket accounts as necessary.
  • Independently develop and maintain strong knowledge of the marketplace and strong working relationships with company representatives.
  • Prepare submissions, and negotiate pricing, policy conditions, and terms with selected carriers. Review all quotations with recommendations as to the best options for price, coverage, and risk alternatives. Manage quotes, proposals to customers, and place coverage with insurance carriers within agency authority.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with producer, supervisor, and others to provide feedback on customer and/or market conditions.
  • Handle telephone calls and personal visits from customers pertaining to their individual coverage requirements, claims, new business, additional lines of coverage, and related issues.
  • For all accounts, ensure that all renewals and requests for changes, amendments, audits, etc. are properly implemented and comply with the various company requirements.
  • Open Enrollment and Education/Information meetings at client facility to cover all shifts at all locations. New Hire education/enrollment meetings may also be necessary.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Performs duties independently with little or no supervision, operating from established directions and instructions. Decisions are made within general agency constraints and insurance laws, and require independent decision-making.
  • The position involves daily contact with customers and carriers, which encompasses information exchange, problem-solving, quoting, and/or negotiations; this includes significant contact with customers to collect information on any changes to the customer’s characteristics and to analyze the customer’s continued exposure and tolerance to risk, as well as review coverage options and risk management/prevention strategies.
  • Thorough technical knowledge of group insurance, including an understanding of various insurance forms and risk alternatives.
  • Technical knowledge of Federal and State laws affecting group insurance such as COBRA, HIPAA, HITECH, the Affordable Care Act, CMS regulations relative to Fraud, Waste and Abuse, etc.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience with Employee Benefits Insurance with self-funded accounts. Insurance broker background or self-insured HR/benefits background preferred.

Specialized Skills, Knowledge or Licensure:

  • Possess or pass the requirement to hold a PA Group Life and Health insurance license.
  • Thorough technical knowledge of MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and ability to learn other software programs as needed.
  • Basic math skills are essential with the ability to balance and double check one’s own and/or the work of others.
  • Highly organized with the ability to recall data history and maintain proactive follow up.

Other: Must have valid PA driver’s license and reliable transportation for regular / daily out of office client meetings. Must be able to work various hours as required by client needs and/or employee meetings.

Continuing Education/Training: as required by applicable statutes and regulations.

WORK HOURS:  

Full Time employees work 37 ½ hours per week; 1 hour for lunch

Agency hours of operation:  Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
